In composites manufacturing one of the most useful tools alongside a cutting blade is the composite dibber. A small handheld tool, typically made from nylon or carbon fibre, which is used to push fabric into corners and edges to ensure the material is fully in contact with the mould surface.

This dibber is based on a design from 2013 that has been improved on over the years. Made from a non-stick plastic with three different size corners, it can get into tight corners and will not stick to tacky materials.

The dibber material is softer than most plastics which means it can also be used when vacuum bagging components to ensure good consolidation on debulk and curing. The dibber will eventually wear but tends to take a polish rather than disintegrate as it gets used.
